2025 marks the 100th anniversary of trailblazing entertainer and activist Josephine Baker's move to Paris in 1925, which initiated her incredible career and path to international stardom. The African American singer-dancer moved to France to escape racism in America and swiftly became the toast of Paris. In gratitude, she became a World War II spy for her adopted country.

The glamorous starlet spied for the French Resistance against the Nazis. Her fame was the perfect cover, opening doors to parties where she rubbed shoulders with German, Italian, and Japanese officials…and reported to the French what she heard. Baker was awarded the Croix de guerre by the French military honoring Resistance agents who fought with the Allies against the Axis forces.
